  Most food pantries give expired or close to expired food, this one is no different. The meats and milks are frozen so they won't spoil. Only pantry I know of that gives fresh fruits or vegetables, of course that can be hit or miss with vegetables also being past due dates and rotting and moldy and I'm not sure how safe those are to eat. If you are hungry and need of food though it is better than nothing. Just unfortunate that poor people don't get fresher produce.
